MISSISSIPPI TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE (MTA): Larry and Chase Kasper of the Mississippi State University - Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC),  visited MTA in Jackson, MS at the invitation of MTA Director - Dr. Randall Goldsmith on 22 July, 2009. Larry presented three (3) Inventions for performative earthquake resistant and sustainable modular housing system components for Temporary Disaster Relief Housing and multi-story Global Housing units. Pursuant to the meeting, Larry was invited to become a client of the MTA for pursuit of Phase 1 - Angel Investor Venture Capital Funding for further Research & Development and pursuit of a firm/company start-up.

ECKENROD RIVER HOUSE: Larry has been commissioned to design an ultra-modern house in Kibler Valley, VA on the Dan River for Skip and Cathy Eckenrod of Interlam Design.

INTERLAM DESIGN - Larry and Melva Barrow were invited guest's of Skip and Cathy Eckenrod of Interlam Design and visited  their  fabrication and manufacturing enterprises.  Emerging trends and developments in international global manufacturing strategies using Computer-Numeric-Controlled Machines and High-Technology manufacturing tactics were reviewed.


ARCHICAD / ECO-DESIGNER: Larry has upgraded his BIM software to the latest Graphisoft ArchiCAD - Virtual Building Solutions release (version 12) and purchased the newly released Graphisoft energy simulation software Eco-Designer..


LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: Larry accompanied his 83 year old father to the 60th, and final, annual reunion of the 8th Armored Division held in Louisville, KY  8-12 July, 2009. Present were American Heroes who made a major contribution to democratic freedom, not only in Europe, but around the world in the Battle of the Bulge and Berlin.   Local site visits included Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger Manufacturing, as well as the dramatic downtown river front parks and 4th Street Live.


MODULAR TRANSPORTABLE HOUSING (MTH) - Larry interviewed Darwin Smith of MTH - Seattle, Washington - US regarding emerging international global housing and manufacturing strategies.


PROJECT CENTER: Larry facilitated a joint partnership agreement between Bricsnet Project Center vice-president - Dave Gardner and ACADIA (Association for Computer-Aided-Design in Architecture) President - Mahesh Senagala for use of Bricsnet Project Center for virtual management of ACADIA's corporate records and executive management.

IASS - Larry and Shaima Al Arayedh have a peer reviewed paper accepted for presentation and publication in the 2009 IASS (International Association of Shells and Spatial Structures Symposium).
The symposium theme is:

Evolution and trends in design, analysis and construction of shell and spatial structures

The 2009 Symposium which, as is customary, is held in Spain every 10 years, aims to gather a wide group of engineers, architects, researchers, and educators able to contribute with their work, experience and perspective to the understanding of this past evolution and the exploration of future trends in the field of shell and spatial structures. The paper is titled:

Larry traveled to Göteborg, Sweden where he interviewed the Johnson Controls Project Manager - Arnold Beunis, for the Volvo-Car C30 seat. This  design and manufacturing team of experts included 40 firms and  sub-contractors - at the invitation of  Amanda Odblom - of Volvo Car - Corporate Master Black Belt and Six Sigma Director -  June, 2008.

Larry Barrow was invited by Vice Chancellor - Dr. Sayed Imtiyaz Hussain Gilani - University of Engineering and Technology (UET) to co-partner for an earthquake resistant housing grant in Pakistan through the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.

In 2003, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of Pakistan and the United States Department of State signed a comprehensive Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement that established a framework to increase cooperation in science, technology, engineering and education for mutual benefit and peaceful purposes between the science and education communities in both countries.

Larry Barrow was invited to attend the first International Colloquium of Free Form Design
held at Delft University of Technology. Approximately 30 experts, considered to be leading figures in the interdisciplinary field of Free-Form Design, were invited to debate the direction of technologies and practices that are deemed as influential in setting the agenda for future research, education and practice.
 
This international colloquium brought together intellectuals and practitioners in the field of architecture, engineering, manufacturing and academics; with the aim of establishing an international network, combining expertise and knowledge from both practice and research carried out on Free-Form Design in Architecture. The goal is to provide insight into the potential of design, engineering and development / realization processes, as well as their limitations, and to provide guidance for the wider
